You might have seen somewhere a dentist offers free teeth cleaning. Now you go there for the free service while cleaning your teeth the dentist says that your teeth are turning a little yellow and you started worrying about your yellow teeth. Then he offers you to do teeth whitening and you agreed to do teeth whitening and you spend money on that because you don't want yellow teeth. The dentist started working on your teeth and a little while later he says that your teeth has become weak and started shifting. So you again become worried and ask the dentist to do something. The dentist offers that he could fix this with retainers. You agreed to do that and you spend more money on that. On the way out the door, the secretary pitched you for another appointment with dentist six months later at a discount price, so you agreed to book the appointment. So now you see that you went to the dentist office for free teeth whitening and you came out by spending thousands of dollars for your teeth and at the end you also enrolled to his continuity program also called subscription model. So this, what the dentist did is called value ladder.

So you might be wondering, what exactly is a value ladder?
To summarize it in one statement- value ladder is a range of products, where your customers pays you more to ascend the ladder to get more value.
Now ideally we would like to sell everyone our best thing, right? You want to serve your customers in the highest way possible. But the sad truth is that if I were to wake up to you on the street and say, “Give me a million dollars, and I’ll help you to grow your company/business,” you would either laugh in my face or run away, thinking I was insane. Well, that’s the problem with most people. They just have a single product to sell. So, why is that a problem? It’s because we just met, and so far, I haven’t provided you any value.
Now if we take the example of dentist again what the dentist did is first he had created bait which is free teeth cleaning that would attract his clients like you. Second, he provided value to you by cleaning your teeth and noticing that your teeth had become yellow. So, he pitched you for his low cost service which is teeth whitening. Because you had received value, you naturally wanted to move forward and get additional value from him. He then found another way that he could provide value to you by fixing your teeth with retainers and again you naturally took his high cost service as well. And lastly you also booked appointment with the dentist after six months and got added to his continuity program. Now if you look at the structure, you will see that on the left hand axis there is value and on the bottom axis there is price. Now from left to right the price of the service increase and from bottom to top the value of the service also increases that means with the increase of the value of the service, the price also increases.
Now on the top right hand corner of this graph, you will see the big $ sign. This is where you want to take your client or customer. This is where you can provide them the most value and also charge them the most. So to sum it up what you have to do is to create a value ladder for your business. No matter what your business is either you are selling products or services you must have a value ladder. So now most people will say that how can I use value ladder on my business but believe or not every business can have a value ladder. First think about creating a low ticket service or product, then create a mid ticket service or product, after that create a high ticket service or product and finally create most valuable product or service where you charge the highest price on your value ladder. And your clients will naturally want to ascend, want more value and pay you more money. Not all clients or customer will buy your most valuable product or service but some interested clients will be there who will buy your most valuable product.
You can implement this strategy by creating funnels or on websites or through email marketing or sms marketing. The best way to implement value ladder in your business is by creating Sales funnels. If you don’t know what funnel is- So Basically funnel is a series of web pages. It is a marketing term used to describe the process of turning a visitor into a lead, and a lead into a buyer. You need to be able to build out a full Value Ladder. Most businesses have one or two pieces of the ladder, but rarely have full value ladder. Once you add in the missing pieces, the business can start to expand dramatically.
